Service Information

1. Why do people come to the alter at the end of service?
People come to the alter at the end of the service for many reasons. Often, the pastor will present an opportunity for individuals to accept Christ as their personal Savior. During these times, he will present the Salvation message, then offer an open invitation for people to come forward in a "public declaration" that they are accepting Christ. At other times, the pastor will present an opportunity for individuals to come forward in response to the theme of the message so that they can have a personal time of prayer with God. There are also opportunities presented periodically for individuals to come forward and have the pastor or one of the ministers agree with them in prayer regarding areas of need in their lives.

2. If I come to the alter during or after a service, am I coming forward for church membership?
Coming forward during alter time is an opportunity to respond to the message, to accept an invitation to receive Christ as your Savior, or to share a prayer need. After the alter call, the pastor will then open the doors of the church. This means that if you are interested in becoming a member of Holy Trinity you are urged to come to the alter.

3. How do I get a CD of the service?
CDs of our services are available immediately after the services near the entrance. A donation of $5 is requested.

What is Salvation?

1. What does it mean to be saved?
Being saved means that a person has made a choice to accept the free gift of salvation offered by Jesus Christ. When a person is "saved" they have decided to accept Christ as their personal Savior and to place their trust in him. Being saved also ensures and secures a person's place in heaven for eternity.

2. Why should I be saved?
The Bible says that everyone has sinned (Romans 3:23). But, God loves us so much that he sent his only son, Jesus, to earth to die for our sins (John 3:16). Because Jesus freely gave his own life for us and took our sins upon himself, we don't have to die and go to hell. Jesus took our punishment for us. When you accept Christ, you are washed clean from your sins and when you die you can go to heaven.

3. How do I get saved / give my heart to Christ?
(Romans 10:9) "Because if you acknowledge and confess with your lips that Jesus is Lord and in your heart believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved."

The Bible passage above states that in order to be saved, you have to accept Christ as your Savior and receive the free gift of eternal life. You do that by confessing with your mouth and believing in your heart that Jesus is the Son of God. Then by praying a prayer like this:"Dear Lord, I know that I am sinner and I know that You died on the cross for my sins. I accept the free gift of Salvation and ask you to forgive me of my sins. Come into my life and teach me how to live for you. Thank you for saving me Jesus. Amen"

4. What do I do after I get saved?
The first thing you want to do is find someone to tell about your newfound faith. If you know another Christian, tell them. If you don't know of any other Christians, then you can tell us. Next, you will want to get a Bible and begin reading it every day. It is helpful to start with the New Testament because this will help you understand the Gospel of Jesus Christ even more. Finally, you want to find a good Bible based church to get involved in. Church will help you learn more about the Christian life and will provide you with a new support system filled with people who are strong in the Christian faith. If you live in the Birmingham area, we welcome you to try Holy Trinity World Outreach Ministry. If you live outside of the Birmingham area and need help finding a church, just contact us and we will help you find a good church in your area.

What is Water Baptism?

1. What is water baptism?
Water baptism is complete immersion of a person into water. The word, baptism comes from the Greek word "baptizo" which means "to immerse, cause to be dipped, or to overwhelm". For the Christian person, baptism means identification with Christ. It symbolically represents the death and burial of a person's old life and the resurrection of a new life in Christ.

2. Why should I be baptized?
Because Jesus instructed that we be baptized when we are saved. Baptism represents leaving your old life and embracing a new life of commitment to Christ -

(Romans 6:4-6) "4 We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5 If we have been united with Him like this in His death, we will certainly also be united with Him in His resurrection. 6 For we know that our old self was crucified with Him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin-"

Being obedient to Jesus and His instruction for baptism will deliver you from the power of sin operating in your life.

3. What do I do if I want to be baptized?
